President's Message

In February 2006 I welcomed an enthusiastic Class of 2006 to the Leadership Anaheim program promising them an experience that would enlighten and expose them to a variety of Anaheim programs, opportunities and more that would be an eyeopener for them! This group has “seized the day” and after completing a Class Project in record time, continue to learn at each new session. Alumni have continued to find opportunities on City commissions, non-profit boards and volunteer opportunities in the community.

Perhaps most exciting is the progress of Youth Leadership which has become an independent non-profit entity, working in the community and taking leadership to young people throughout the county. Their vision is to “go out on their own” in order to gain from the experiences they encounter as they continue to grow. They have developed an “exportable” program called Youth Leadership America. Founder John Nguyen and alumni James Kwok, Alexi Robicheaux, Ryan Smeets and others have dedicated themselves to this work. Leadership Anaheim is proud of what their team is doing and that they remain committed to Anaheim by working within the City as needed volunteering to help at events and more.
